In the music industry, there are many artists who have a level of influence in the culture. One of the most prominent rappers of the late 2010s and 2020s is none other than hip-hop rapper Gunna. Gunna has made contributions to the hip-hop genre in multiple ways.

Collaborating with other big artists in the industry such as Drake, Lil Baby and Travis Scott, Gunna has proven his place among the hip-hop elites. Gunna has achieved milestones of multiple billboard-topping albums (like “Wunna” and “DS4ever”), which pushed his career to new heights. His fashion has cultivated him as a cultural influence on the younger generation.

As of recently, Gunna has dropped a new album called “The Last Wun,” which is confirmed to be his last album with his label, YSL (Young Stoner Life Records). This is Gunna’s sixth studio album, which dropped August 8, 2025.

The album runs 25 tracks and blends in a mixture of melodic trap with empowering Afrobeats influence, featuring artists such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Offset and Asake. The cross-continental collaborations reflect Gunna’s growing international ambitions.

On the album, Gunna reflects on success, resilience, and scrutiny from his RICO case, while also celebrating lifestyle and luxury. After the situation with the RICO case, tracks like “Won’t Stop” show his determination to rise above criticism. He highlights wealth and luxury, using vivid imagery of designer brands, jewelry and yachts as symbols of success.

Other tracks go more in-depth on other topics discussed throughout the album. Romance plays a key influence and role on the album. Tracks like “Forever Be Mine” and “Close Enough” focus on love and intimacy. Collaboration with Wizkid and Burna Boy on the album influenced Gunna to tap into a worldwide audience and be more authentic with his music style.

As this is the final album under his label, Gunna wanted to deliver a graceful end to the YSL journey. This album showed him to be more versatile and positioned him to be more than just a U.S. rap star. Artists throughout the album influenced each other to broaden their cultural reach with music. “The Last Wun” is a reminder to Gunna that he is an artist who will continue to rise, redefine his sound and leave an unforgettable mark in hip-hop.
