Though we are over a month into 2023, many TV shows are yet to be released. Let’s go through some that caught my eye!
January of this year had a strong start, with some popular shows getting renewed for additional seasons. “Ginny and Georgia” on Netflix and “Hunters” on Prime Video each released their second season after receiving favorable reception for the first one. “Ginny and Georgia” is about a young single mom with her teenage daughter trying to make a living in Massachusetts, with some ghosts from their dark past making things difficult for them. “Hunters” takes place in the 70s and focuses on a group of Nazi Hunters living in New York City.
For February, “The Flash” will air its final season, featuring Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, a crime fighter with super speed. Additionally, You’ll be able to catch it on Netflix and a variety of other streaming platforms soon. Season four of “You”, which was recently released on Feb. 9, is available on Netflix to stream, and this may or may not be its last season as well. Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley) returns as a haunted man in the UK.
On Mar. 1, the third season of “The Mandalorian” is coming out. We get to see more of Grogu, otherwise known as baby Yoda! A limited series on HBO titled “White House Plumbers” will also be available later this month. It is a depiction of the Watergate scandal and features big names like Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux.
This summer, season two of “Good Omens” will be released, which focuses on a demon named Crowley (David Tennant) and an angel named Aziraphale (Michael Sheen). It highlights the adventures they take together as they try to stop the world from ending. “The Witcher” will also be available to stream on Netflix, and this third season may or may not be the last time we’ll see Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt.
Later this year, the fourth season of “The Boys” will be ready to watch on Prime Video. It is a satirical show that makes fun of superheroes while making it gory and a little bit heartwarming. Luckily for its viewers, a fifth season is promised by the director.
Disney Plus is releasing a new series later in the year called “Echo” which is about a girl named Maya Lopez, (played by Alaqua Cox). It follows her adventure heading home to Oklahoma in search of some peace following the events she experienced in the related TV series “Hawkeye” and to reconnect with her extended Native American family. I haven’t heard much about this one, but I really enjoyed watching “Hawkeye”, so I am looking forward to watching this series.
Sometime this year, HBO will put out “The Idol”, a long-awaited series from “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson, also includes musicians Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Reza Fahim. It stars Lily-Rose Depp as an up-and-coming musician who has a nervous breakdown and resolves to reclaim her title while also getting involved with a self-help guru/cult leader played by Tesfaye.
It can be hard to keep up with all the shows coming out and what platforms to watch them on, but rest assured that there is something for everyone on every platform to stay entertained this year. Happy streaming!
