If you’re anything like me, you love to snack. My problem though is that I want my snacks to be healthy enough that I don’t feel as guilty when I eat them.
One of my favorite snacks that is easy to make are banana oatmeal pancakes. These are simple to prepare, tasty and will keep you full for some time. There are three basic ingredients for these pancakes: eggs, banana and oatmeal. If you’d like to add some extra flavor, you could use cinnamon or honey to spice it up a little bit. When I make these, I usually use 2 eggs for every banana. Make sure the bananas are overripe, meaning, they’re not good enough to eat anymore, which makes them perfect for the pancakes. Add oatmeal to your liking. I usually end up using around 4 tablespoons of oatmeal. Then all you do is blend the ingredients together, heat up a pan with some butter and then bake the pancakes! I would recommend making smaller sized pancakes because that is easier to flip and then they’re the perfect size to bring with you!
There are a few snacks that are delicious and simple. Rice cakes with cookie butter is a perfect example. Even though this snack does not keep you very full for long, it is a great snack if you are a bit hungry before dinner for example. Or, if you want to snack but you don’t want to get full. Trail mix is a great treat, and it contains lots of nuts which is good for your health in many different ways. You shouldn’t eat too much trail mix as too many nuts are not as good for you. One or two hands full should be enough to fill you up for a little bit.
Recently I have come across this recipe that I have yet to try out. It’s a blueberry chocolate snack. You add some blueberries with Greek yogurt and make little piles on a baking sheet. Then you put it in the freezer, so the yogurt gets hard enough. Then you take it out and dip the yogurt blueberry ball in some melted chocolate and you put it in the fridge to harden it. Very easy to make and it looks absolutely delicious!
When feeling snacky, try out some of the healthier options so you won’t feel as guilty about having a snack. Enjoy!
