Alpha Phi Sigma’s Partners with Panda Express

On Wednesday, April 23rd, Lewis students have an opportunity to support one of their several national honors society chapters. Pi Epsilon Theta is Lewis’ chapter of the prestigious Alpha Phi Sigma national honors society that gives high achieving students in a JLPSS major access to numerous opportunities on and outside of campus.

Lewis is home to several honors societies that have the membership of students across all majors, including history, social work, political science, psychology, education, nursing and many others.

National honors societies give students access to opportunities to thrive in their major fields, like expanded education, fundraising, jobs, internships, networking and scholarships.

Like many of the major-specific honors societies on campus, events and functions put on by Alpha Phi Sigma rely heavily on fundraising and donations, which is why on April 23rd, they have decided to put on a fundraising event in partnership with Panda Express.

This, of course, will require the participation of Lewis students and staff to support not only Alpha Phi Sigma’s growth and influence but the students whose membership took lots of time and hard work.

Hailey Russo, a senior majoring in criminal justice and minoring in social work and president of Alpha Phi Sigma says, “Alpha Phi Sigma has not put on any events yet at Lewis besides the induction ceremony, which is why it is so important to raise funds so we can start doing charity work and hosting fun/interactive events at Lewis.”

Alpha Phi Sigma is still a relatively new part of Lewis’ student life, so interaction and support from students is crucial to starting its growth. 20% of the fundraiser’s proceeds will go towards providing graduation cords/pins, hosting future events at Lewis, and to donate a big portion of proceeds to a chosen charity.

“People can participate in this fundraiser by going to the Romeoville Panda Express, located on 404 Weber Rd Suite E, Romeoville, IL 60446, between 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM and ordering something,” Russo continues. “Students must show the paper flyer or a picture of the flyer when purchasing food.”

Flyers are located in buildings all around campus, but contributions can also be made online at PandaExpress.com or the App by entering 3838527 in the fundraiser code box. This makes it easy and convenient for anyone to simply show up and have their orange chicken make a difference.

It is also important to note that gift cards and vouchers will not count towards the donation, so students should have their cards and cash at the ready.

Alpha Phi Sigma’s fundraiser at Panda Express is an opportunity for students to support their peers who have worked hard to succeed in their majors and want more opportunities and interaction around campus.
