The Emmy’s Review

The 76th Emmy Awards aired on Sept. 15th and, although there was some controversy from viewers, there were many significant moments throughout the show. Actors and actresses from shows of all genres and platforms were nominated but obviously only one could win. Certain shows had a clean sweep of awards while others were left with little to none.

Shows like, “The Bear”, as well as “Hacks,” won a ton of awards in the comedy category. Although “Hacks” won the best comedy series, “The Bear” won the most awards in the comedy category with 11 overall. There was some controversy with whether “The Bear” should be considered a comedy or drama. Some would argue that it is a drama with some comedy aspects but others would say it is a complete comedy or drama. Due to this, some are saying that the show should not have won as much as it did.

One show that many viewers believe got robbed was “Abbott Elementary.” This show was a big winner a few years ago at the 2022 Emmy’s; however, they did not win a single award that was broadcasted. The viewers of the award show complained that “The Bear” stole from “Abbott Elementary” due to the claim that “The Bear” is a drama.

“The Bear” also made history with Liza Colon-Zayas being the first Latina to win best Supporting Actress in a comedy series. This is a huge moment for her as she was an aspiring actress for many years before her breakthrough role as Tina.

The show that won the most awards in the drama category was “Shogun”. It not only won the most awards for its category, but also won the best drama series. The show won 18 Emmys- a new record that was set for a single season show.

Another show that had multiple wins was “Baby Reindeer”, a show based on a true story with an eerie feel to it. It won 4 awards but 3 of those were won by the same person,Richard Gadd who is the show’s main character and creator.

The Emmy’s were a success for some and a flop for others but all nominees were well deserving. Hopefully next year’s Emmy awards will live up to where this year’s were.
