On Feb. 4, the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) released a poll ranking women’s bowling teams in which the Flyers earned No. 18. This is the first time in program history the team has made the all-division poll.

Kylie Johnson, one of three team captains, expressed her excitement over the news. “It was really encouraging to know that we were going to be making history for the school and that our hard work was going to be paying off,” said Johnson. “This is a big thing with our program only being three years old.”

Such a ranking has been seen as a major accomplishment for the team and a great jumping-off point for future goals.. Johnson recognized their goals as a team going forward to continue moving up in the ranking, saying, “18 is a good starting point, and with the people we’re recruiting, we want to make sure other teams know we’re a good team.”

Despite COVID-19 still being a factor, the women’s bowling team has found a way to make it all work. “It sucks because we can’t have our fans there and it’s less personable,”said Johnson. “Not being able to give high fives is the worst. Giving high fives gave us the energy to keep going when someone got a strike or did really well. It’s not the same, but we’re doing the best we can do.” Women’s Bowling Earns First All-Divisions Ranking

The women’s bowling team will be traveling to Lincoln, Nebraska for the Big Red Invite on February 26.
