Spring style report: Getting ahead of the trend game

The weather outside may have the winter blues, but you don’t have to!

Spring weather is just around the corner, which means there is nothing wrong with preparing your wardrobe now for the upcoming season.

Although you can’t get into full-on spring mode just yet, shopping and planning for warmer weather outfits is a great reminder that better days are coming.

According to TJ Maxx’s style report, five of the top trends for the upcoming spring season are classic nautical, bohemian chic, the color white, laid-back denim and fringe.

Classic nautical style has a reputation of only being acceptable for the summertime, but, for the stripes and straw tote lovers out there, this spring is allowing the trend to work even sooner.

Soft stripes, woven fedoras and espadrille shoes are a few pieces that can create a soft nautical vibe.

A simple tropical floral print blouse is a perfect way to mix spring florals with the nautical trend.

Bohemian style has been huge all year long, but each season, the pieces change depending on the weather.

Instead of the heavy suede fabrics and big hats from the fall and winter, spring bohemian style will call for flowy dresses, lightweight cover-ups and crocheted lace.

A paisley printed maxi dress with a slouchy cardigan is the perfect spring outfit that still appreciates the popular bohemian trend.

The color white is making a major comeback this spring. White blouses, dresses and denim are a few pieces hitting the scene right now.

A pair of white boyfriend jeans paired with brown mule shoes and a denim jacket is an ensemble that is sure to steal the show. A white dress with navy polka dots complimented with a cardigan is also a great way to incorporate the color.

White handbags are also beginning to pop up at the stores right at this moment. A white leather bucket bag can make a major statement with any outfit.

Laid-back denim continues to be a fashion that stylish ladies adore. In the winter, it was seen most paired with a chunky turtleneck sweater.

The boyfriend jean is a laid-back style that can be paired with a light spring jacket or a bright blazer. The cropped ankle style allows the season’s hottest shoes to pop.

Distressed jeans are very casual, but can easily be dressed up with a nice blouse or cardigan. A lavender button-up blouse paired with the distressed denim takes the look from sloppy to edgy.

Light wash denim also adds to the laid-back feel. A light wash denim jacket with a flowy spring dress creates the perfect combination.

Fringe is another trend continuing from the fall through the spring. If you are not brave enough to incorporate fringe into an outfit, starting with accessories is perfect for the upcoming season.

Fringe tote bags are already hitting the shelves at stores like Target. Even a small fringe crossbody adds the perfect amount of the trend your outfits are missing.

Short brown fringe ankle boots would also pair like a dream with cropped boyfriend jeans.

You may be dying for spring freshness, and luckily, the major fashion retailers feel your pain. Stores are already featuring exclusive spring wardrobe pieces that you will not want to miss out on.

So, you may have to wear that knit sweater for another month, but there’s nothing wrong with planning ahead.

When the first day of spring finally hits, you’ll have the perfect outfit to hit the streets in.
