“She Kills Monsters”: Behind the Scenes

“There’s a lot of history back here,” said senior Matt Carlson, who plays both Agnes’ boyfriend, Miles, as well as a monster. Carlson explains how every graduating senior signs the walls backstage with chalk. “The PLT staff then goes over it with white paint,” added Carlson. “It’s really cool to see all of the people who cam before you and have been in my shoes.”

Every semester, the Philip Lynch Theatre at Lewis University puts on two productions. The first play for the fall semester was the action-comedy “She Kills Monsters.” The adventure revolves around Agnes, a grieving sister who enters the realm of her recently deceased sister’s favorite game, Dungeons & Dragons.

With plenty of costumes, makeup and combat scenes, one can only imagine the amount of preparation that goes in to creating a one-of-a-kind experience like “She Kills Monsters.” Take a look behind the curtain as “The Flyer” ventures backstage to see what it’s like to be a performer at the PLT.
