Fashion is constantly evolving. As temperatures begin to climb, new trends and styles can be seen on runways, the streets and college campuses across the country. These fresh trends allow fashion lovers to express themselves in new and unique ways.
“I love that (fashion) changes,” said Hanna Frank, a junior mass communications major. “It’s something to look forward to and get excited about.”
There are five trends in particular that have stuck out as fashion must-haves for spring. According to Modelinia.com, patchwork, black and white, Bermuda shorts, loose and relaxed-fit tops and stripes are the hottest trends for spring 2013. These five trends were the most-seen looks on the spring runway during the recent New York Fashion Week.
Patchwork details on blouses and shirts create a color block or collage effect. They can be dressed up for a polished look or dressed down with jeans for a casual outfit.
Black and white is the most classic and timeless color combination, but it’s making its way back into the fashion spotlight. Big name designers such as Michael Kors, Victoria Beckham and Marc Jacobs have recently been playing up black and white in their designs.
It might be time to dig out that old pair of Bermuda shorts. This tomboy look is making a comeback this season. Modelinia.com describes Bermuda shorts as the “sporty alternative to the summer skirt.” Bermuda shorts made a statement at New York Fashion Week for designers, including DKNY and Vera Wang.
Clothes with a relaxed and loose fit are huge this spring as well. This effortless style is perfect for students who want to look cute but still be comfortable in class.
Finally, wearing anything with stripes this season is a major trend. The striped look was seen all over the runways at New York Fashion Week, especially with designers Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors.
Along with the five top trends for spring 2013, the biggest color that made an appearance on the runways was cobalt blue. Fabsugar.com broke down the other top colors for spring, which include mint, yellow, white and sea foam green.
From patchwork to stripes, make note of this year’s hot trends while you are out shopping this spring.
