AUDIO: Associate Professor of Theology Dr. Karen Trimble-Alliaume’s Spotify Music Playlist
Associate Professor of Theology Dr. Karen Trimble-Alliaume lists and describes 10 of her favorite songs and what they mean to her in the playlist below, which can be listened to by clicking on the Spotify application.
“It’s hard to come up with 10, but here’s a kind-of-random mix of things I have been listening to lately and one or two perennial favorites,” said Trimble-Alliaume of the list below.
Make it Stop, Low – I just discovered this Midwestern group, which has been around awhile. Gorgeous harmonies.
Change, Churchill – I like this for similar reasons to “Low.” Good harmonies, but more energetic than the rather meditative quality of Low.
Thrift Shop, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis – Because, my nine-year-old likes it, and because it’s so silly. Plus, it has a good beat.
The Cave, Mumford and Sons – Or really any of their stuff, because I like jangly guitars.
White Knuckles, Ok Go – Because the video on YouTube with all the dog tricks is really fun to watch.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode “Once More With Feeling, the entire soundtrack – Because, it’s fun to sing on long car trips. For a sample song, try “I’ll Never Tell.”
Bottom of the River, Delta Rae – Just a powerful song that sounds like a movie soundtrack in-and-of itself.
Voodoo, Street Corner Symphony – Bluesy acapella with a great muted trumpet. Although I can’t sing very well myself, I’m a big acapella nerd. And, I’m sad “The Sing-Off” got cancelled by NBC after only three seasons, so you can also add anything by.
Cover of Imogen Heaps ‘Aha,’ Pentatonix – And, to round off the list of ten…
Cover of the Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star, Pentatonix – Because, again it’s good acapella, and also reminds me of my high school/college years when I liked “new wave” stuff.
