How long have you been working at Lewis? I have been at Lewis for 6 years.

What do you like most about

working at Lewis? The aspect that I like most about Lewis is the people. The students, faculty, and staff are genuine and caring people.  They make ministry at Lewis enjoyable and fulfilling.

What do you like most about the Catholic faith? The Catholic faith has led me on the journey to  authenticity of self and a vision for the world that is God’s vision of compassion and love of neighbor.

Name: Martha Villegas-Miranda

Title:  Coordinator of University Ministry Outreach

How long have you been working at Lewis? 12 years. I am a Lewis alum.

What do you like most about working at Lewis? I appreciate the Lasallian spirit of association and justice present and alive on our campus and in the community!

What do you like most about the Catholic faith? I like the Church’s social mission to help the poor.  One of my favorite scripture passages is Matthew 25, which reminds us of our social responsibility to take care of all of our sisters and brothers, and the Church’s doctrine on Catholic Social Teaching as we are called to bring the healing hand of God to those in need and to bring the gospel message of love and justice in the world.  Some of my favorite quotes are… ”Preach the Gospel at all times. If necessary, use words” by St. Francis of Assisi, and “If you want  peace, work for justice” “Si quieres paz, lucha por la justicia” by Pope Paul VI, and Mother Teresa’s quote on how “We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”

Name: Adam Setmeyer

Title: Coordinator of Retreats and Social Justice Education

How long have you been working at Lewis? Since fall ’06.

What do you like most about working at Lewis? The students, the students, the students.  It is so amazing to see our students hear and see God’s call in their lives.

What do you like most about the Catholic faith? Its humanness, if that is even a word. I don’t have to be perfect to be a Catholic; I just have to go where I am being called.  Also, our Catholic faith is about more than “heavenly” things, it is about life here on earth – life, love, death, relationships and social issues. Especially the connections our faith makes to the latter – another name for this is Catholic Social  Teaching.

Name: Sabrina Poulin

Title: Coordinator of National Immersion Trips

How long have you been working at Lewis? 8 years.

What do you like most about working at Lewis? It is a blessing to be a part of students’ faith lives during their college years.  It is an honor to walk with them on their faith journey.

What do you like most about the Catholic faith? Catholic Social Teaching.

Name: Michael Phipps

Title: Graduate Assistant, University Ministry

How long have you been working at Lewis? Starting my second year at Lewis.
