The holiday season is finally among us, which means it’s already the last week or so of classes accompanied by finals. Then, students crowd the bookstore to sell back books and use the money earned to do what they want.
Yet in this recession, every penny counts. Students may use that money to buy Christmas gifts to ensure their families can enjoy a wonderful holiday season. The money the student generates by the selling of the books may not be enough, in part because of the bookstore’s atrocious pricing while still making a profit amid the less fortunate.
As the old saying goes, “Charity begins at home.” We call on the bookstore to abandon these horrific pricing plans and embrace the charitable aspects — increase the buyback prices to benefit the consumer.
After all, it will not only make the reputation of the bookstore more positive, but allow the students of Lewis University to help give hope to their loved ones this holiday season.
