Members of Lewis’ American Chemical Society (ACS) held a “Pie in the Face” event at the Student Union Feb. 24, to raise funds for Lewis’ Hope for Haiti campaign. Students got a chance to throw a whipped cream or applesauce pie at a specific professor for $1 dollar.
Advisor, Dr. Jason Keleher, explained that the group got the idea while they were brainstorming for ways to make the student body more aware of ACS.
Chemistry major, and ACS President, Ashley Cychosz, explained, “We’re thinking about making [this] an annual event. The professors had a blast, we didn’t get any complaints and the money went to a good cause.”
The members of ACS sold 150 pies, and raised $150 from the event, “with separate donors [writing] separate checks just for Hope for Haiti,” explained Cychosz.
